Polio Eradication Resources For Club Leaders - How to track pledges Polio Raffle Info Download the |
Polio Eradication Newsletter March 20, 2003 Last spring, when we announced our District goal of $1,000,000, we knew that it was an ambitious goal - but we also knew in our hearts that we could do it. Yes, there were moments of doubt the stalled economy, the aftereffects of 9/11 and now the war on Iraq. But once again the Rotarians of District 5950 have shown that they will do whatever it takes to help the children of the world lead healthy lives. Therefore, as of today, we can announce that with 52 of our 57 clubs reporting, the current commitment for Polio Eradication from the clubs of District 5950 is $1,010,173!!! But we are not done yet. There are still 5 clubs that have not reported their goal. If you are one of those 5 clubs, please get your goal sheet in to PEFC Chair Holly Callen before the District Conference. Also, this was just the first step. Now we must collect the funds over the next 2-/12 years from those members who have made a pledge; we must continue to have club activities to raise money; and, we must create awareness in our communities that we Rotarians always Fulfill Our Promise. Clubs to be Honored at the District Conference Plan to attend the Awards Breakfast at the District Conference on Friday, April 10th. At this time, we will honor all of the clubs that have pledged at least $300 per member toward the Polio Eradication Campaign. Rotary Night at the Minnesota Twins to raise money for PE and recognize our Corporate Contributors On June 24th, the Minnesota Twins will play the Chicago White Sox. Not only will the game be good, but the picnic before the game will offer great Rotary fellowship. But the best part is that Rotary and Polio Eradication will be in high visibility. We will be out on the mound before the game honoring companies that have made a major donation to PE and one of those companies will get to throw out the ceremonial first pitch! According to DG Paul Bierhaus, "We expect to raise $25,000 to $40,000 for Polio Eradication with this event." But it wont happen without your help. Talk to the corporations in your community about making a gift to Polio Eradication. Tell them that you will join them on June 24th for Rotary Night at the Twins where Rotarians from Minnesota and Wisconsin will thank them for their gift. And let them know that the children of the world who will never have to face this terrible crippling disease thank them for caring.
